All-on-X replaces every tooth in an arch on four to six implants — no palate, no adhesive, nothing to take out at night. Planned in 3D, placed by a master ceramist-turned-implant surgeon, and designed to fit your face by The Smile Architect®, all under one roof in Plano.
All-on-X is a full-arch dental implant treatment that replaces all of the upper or lower teeth with a single fixed bridge anchored to four, five, or six implants. The "X" is the number of implants — All-on-4 and All-on-6 are the most common — chosen for your bone, your bite, and the arch being restored. You may also hear it called X-on-X: the same fixed full-arch treatment, named to make the point that both the number of implants and the design of the bridge are customized to you rather than sold as a one-size protocol. The teeth are screwed to the implants and stay in your mouth; only your dentist removes them.
At Smile Maker of Texas in Plano, All-on-X is planned with 3D CBCT imaging and performed in our Implant Treatment Center by Dr. Young Kyu Kim, DMD — a surgeon who spent 18+ years as a master dental ceramist crafting the very kind of full-arch restorations he now places. Dr. Ritchie Beougher, creator of the SmileLift™, designs the shape, shade, and lip support of your new teeth so the result reads as a face, not a denture. For many patients, failing teeth come out, implants go in, and a provisional set of teeth is attached in a single visit.
Some practices sell one protocol to every patient. We read your 3D scan first, then decide how many implants your arch needs — and where they go.
Two straight implants in front and two angled implants in back make the most of the bone you have. Often avoids bone grafting and sinus lifts, and is a common choice for the lower arch and for patients with significant bone loss.
Two additional implants spread the load, add stability, and give the bridge more support for heavy biters. Frequently recommended for the upper arch, where bone is softer, when the scan shows the room for it.
A denture rests on your gums. All-on-X teeth are anchored in your jaw — and that changes how you eat, speak, and carry your face.
Your teeth stay in. No adhesive, no soaking cup, no fear of them slipping mid-sentence or mid-meal.
Unlike an upper denture, the bridge doesn't cover the roof of your mouth — so you taste food, feel temperature, and speak naturally.
Implants stimulate the jaw the way roots do, slowing the bone loss that makes denture wearers' faces sink and age.
Steak, apples, corn on the cob. Fixed implant teeth restore a large share of natural bite force — the bridge is built for it.
A complimentary visit with a CBCT scan and photographs. We evaluate bone, decide All-on-4 or All-on-6, and Dr. Beougher begins designing the smile that fits your face.
Any remaining teeth are removed, implants are placed with 3D guidance, and for most patients a provisional fixed bridge is attached the same day. Sedation is available.
Over 3–6 months the implants fuse with your jawbone. You wear your provisional teeth throughout, on a softer diet while the foundation sets.
A precision-milled, long-term bridge — shaped, shaded, and finished under Dr. Beougher's eye and Dr. Kim's ceramic training — replaces the provisional.
All-on-X was designed for patients who've been turned away from single implants. Angled placement uses the dense bone you still have — often without grafting.
Not sure where you stand? A complimentary consultation with a 3D scan gives you a clear, honest answer — All-on-4, All-on-6, a graft first, or another path entirely.

Both are All-on-X full-arch bridges; the number is how many implants support the arch. All-on-4 uses four implants, with the back two angled to use existing bone and often avoid grafting. All-on-6 adds two implants for extra support and load distribution, and is frequently recommended for the upper jaw or heavier bites. Your 3D CBCT scan determines which is right for you.
No — X-on-X is another name for the same fixed full-arch implant treatment. Both terms mean a full bridge of teeth ("All") on a customized number of implants ("X"). Some practices prefer X-on-X to stress that nothing is pre-decided: the implant count, positions, and bridge design are all chosen from your 3D scan. At Smile Maker of Texas we use the terms interchangeably.
Usually, yes. For most All-on-X patients, extractions, implant placement, and a fixed provisional bridge happen in one visit — so you leave with teeth. The final, long-term bridge is made after 3–6 months of healing.
Not by you. The bridge is screwed to the implants and stays in your mouth like natural teeth. Your dentist can remove it at maintenance visits for cleaning or adjustments. If you'd prefer something you can take out, an implant-retained snap-in denture may suit you better.
Very often, yes. All-on-X angles the rear implants into the denser bone at the front of the jaw, which is why many patients turned away from single implants are candidates. In some cases a graft or sinus lift is still recommended; your 3D scan gives an honest answer.
Surgery is performed with local anesthesia and sedation dentistry is available, so most patients remember little of the visit. Expect swelling and soreness for several days, managed with medication and a soft diet.
Plan on one surgical day, then 3–6 months of healing while wearing provisional teeth, then delivery of the final bridge. The consultation and 3D planning come before surgery, typically within a few weeks.
Cost depends on the number of arches, All-on-4 versus All-on-6, whether extractions or grafting are needed, sedation, and the final bridge material. Your complimentary consultation includes a 3D scan and an exact, all-inclusive figure, and financing is available. About our fees.
The implants themselves can last decades — often a lifetime — with good hygiene and regular maintenance. The bridge on top is a precision-made restoration that may be refreshed after many years of wear, like any prosthetic.
Brush twice daily, use a water flosser and floss threaders or interdental brushes under the bridge, and keep regular hygiene visits, where the bridge can be removed and professionally cleaned as needed.
Yes. Many patients restore both arches, sometimes in the same surgical visit. Others begin with the arch that troubles them most and complete the second later.
